沉积层序形成机制的海平面变化解释:层序地层学的重要科学命题之二INTERPRETATION OF SEA-LEVEL CHANGES FROM THE GENETIC STRATIGRAPHY OF DEPOSITIONAL SEQUENCES:THE SECOND IMPORTANT SCIENTIFIC PROBLEM IN SEQUENCE-STRATIGRAPHY

摘要(Abstract):
从早期的"层序"概念到"沉积层序"概念的最大变化,表现为从一个只是由不整合面所限定的单位演变为一个由不整合面及其可以对比的整合面所限定的单位;"可以对比的整合面"这个术语的增加促使"沉积层序"成为一个在一系列构造—沉积背景中的实用单位。但是,这个"可以对比的整合面"又被刻画为一个时间面,一个等同于Exxon层序地层学模式中的基准面下降开始的时间变化面。这种把层序界面作为概念性时间面的使用,导致了层序地层学等同于年代地层学,最终造成了层序地层学中与界面识别和单位定义相关的一系列问题的误解。基于把"可以对比的整合面"刻画为一个时间面,对"沉积层序"提出的一个大胆的解释:即在世界的大多数地方,那些在地震剖面上所识别出的、造成层序界面重复性发育的基准面变化应该归因于海平面变化。这个大胆解释在掀起了全球海平面研究高潮的同时,又造成了层序地层学的一些概念体系的不协调,主要表现在层序界面在海平面变化曲线中位置标定的剧烈争论:1)下降拐点;2)海平面变化的最低点;3)海平面变化的最高点。就像不整合面作为一个地层的时间屏障而成为层序界面一样,层序形成的海平面变化解释以及由此而产生的概念体系的不协调就成为层序地层学的第二个重要的科学命题。追索前辈学者对该问题的认识和争论,不但有利于了解三十余年以来层序地层学所取得的许多重要进展,而且有助于层序地层学的进一步发展而成为具体的地层学分支。
